Wikipedia:WikiProject Genetics
|
Welcome to WikiProject Genetics! This project aims to organize improvement and maintenance of genetics articles on Wikipedia. If you would like to help, feel free to add yourself to the list of participants. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for the project, please visit the project discussion page.
Scope and goals
- Classical genetics
- Genetic traits
- Genomics
- Molecular genetics
- Gene regulation
- Related technologies (eg. genetic engineering)
Announcements and open tasks
Announcements may be made through WikiProject Genetics newsletter.
To do list
- Ensure that all of these categories are within Category:Genetics
- Confirm that the hierarchy of Category:Genetics and List of basic genetics topics are what a typical reader would expect. An example Genetics hierarchy is here.
Project organization

Departments
Assessment
The assessment department coordinates article assessments for the project based on quality and project importance. The department collects statistics in cooperation with the Version 1.0 Editorial Team. Assessment requests for articles can be made here. To have an article reviewed, usually prior to gaining a higher-level assessment rating, please see the Peer review section below.
FA-class review
Collaboration
Collaboration is conveyed through WikiProject Genetics/Collaboration of the Month
Outreach and newsletter
Newsletters are released as information warrants by WikiProject Genetics' Outreach Department (to be established) through cooperation with WikiProject Council/Newsletters. WikiProject Genetics current newsletter is May 2008.
Peer review
Genetics article peer review exposes articles to closer scrutiny from a broader group of editors, and is intended for high-quality articles that have already undergone extensive work, often as a way of preparing a featured article candidate. To request a peer review, please follow these instructions.
Translation
Requests for translation of genetics articles from foreign-language Wikipedias into English may be posted at Wikipedia:Translation. For translation of genetics articles in the opposite direction (from English to another language), see the translation how-to page.

Templates
Banners templates
WikiProject Genetics' project banner is {{WikiProject Genetics}}. Please place at the top of an appropriate talk page. Placing the template on the talk page will help to direct editors to this WikiProject Genetics main page. This is how the template will look when it has been added:
Stub templates
Remember to mark up stub articles with the appropriate stub template at the bottom of the article. This automatically adds it to the appropriate page and inserts the banners to the bottom of the page. Currently there are three stub templates:
