West Low German (also known as Low Saxon) is a group of Low German dialects spoken in the Northwest German states of Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia (the Westphalian part), Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Saxony-Anhalt (western areas), in the northeast of the Netherlands and by a minority in the southernmost part of Denmark. Together with East Low German it forms Low German.
