I think that the relatives section should be scrapped, as accounts of who is related to whom vary greatly. The same applies for "powers". The rest is good. --Grammatical error 15:07, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

I removed relatives. Are you sure we should remove powers?--Dangerous-Boy 18:30, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, what specific "power limitations" do we really know? A few people (such as me) believe that all gods are manifestations of the supreme and therefore omnipotent (although the vast majority do not), which would make the "powers" column pointless. Also, a Shaivite might consider Shiva to be omnipotent, whereas a Vaishnavite would consider him the greatest devotee of Vishnu. --Grammatical error 19:18, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

One more thing: what's the point of having Pali? It's not really relevant when talking about Hindu deities. I'd rather have something that is likely to be more useful in this context, like Malayalam for Ayyappan.--Grammatical error 20:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

I put Pali in there just incase since many of the buddhist deities are taken from Hindu ones and incase Buddhist sections are in there as well. I guess we could add Malayalam Isn't there a base script for the southern languages? How many more script table do you think we need?--Dangerous-Boy 20:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Good point about Pali. I think local scripts should be used for deities who are mostly worshipped by a particular group of people and not a part of mainstream Hinduism - the best solution would be to just add more script options to the templates as you come across more local deities. The only ones I can think of at the moment are Ayyappan (Malayalam primarily, although vast numbers of Tamils amongst others worship him so Kannada and Telugu scripts should ideally be included as well), Andavan (Tamil, but that's in already) and apparently they worship a daughter of Shiva and Parvati in the North-West of India somewhere. Local village deities are everywhere, but most of them aren't notable enough to be mentioned in an encyclopaedia (apart from some list of minor deities or something). --Grammatical error 20:59, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
hm. I think it might be possible to a table in for local script and the editor input the name of the local script and input the diety's name in that script. Just one problem...I don't know how to do such a thing in wiki template code. I can only add a table. Might have to ask User:Squilibob about that but he's already done so much work for this template. Kind of feel bad asking him for more and User:Ganeshk seems too busy. Can you do it?--Dangerous-Boy 21:26, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Changed it. Is that what you wanted? --Squilibob 08:06, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Pixels

Can someone decrease the default size of image in the template? Its too large now. Victor 01:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Indic Text

Does anyone else think that the Indic text box should be moved underneath the Info-box in the template, or alternatively removed all-together? It's easy enough to add the Indic text box into an article on it's own, seperately from the box, and looks better in some instances. Regards, Gouranga(UK) 08:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I think the Indic Text box must be included as most Hindu deities articles have the diety names in Devanagari. Aslo; we have a provision in the infobox for the Devanagari name.--Redtigerxyz 11:09, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
In which articles did it cause problems in layout????--Redtigerxyz (talk) 05:14, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
The Indic text box looks untidy as it is positioned above the info box, and appears on the page at a different position to the rest of the box. Is there a way to include it below, without it looking so out of place? Regards, Gouranga(UK) (talk) 10:37, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
I tried putting the Indic Text box below but it didn't look good. I think it looked better above the infobox.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 12:30, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
In which case I'd rather we left it out altogether and added the indic box in seperately where deemed appropriate. Gouranga(UK) (talk) 12:40, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
I still think the Indic Text box should be included.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 13:26, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

The Transparent infobox

IMO the infobox must be made opaque again as it does not look good in articles with short Contents boxes e.g. Khandoba.--Redtigerxyz 11:22, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Just fixed. Gouranga(UK) (talk) 10:40, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Siblings

Removed Siblings as all deities do not have siblings. Siblings, hardly play an important role in Hindu mythology in association with a particular deity, like Consorts - who are notable in the infobox.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 11:41, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Should it be possible to Wiki-format the template in such a way that siblings is only optional. I think it is important sometimes but not always so it should always be an option. Examples include Ganesha and Kartikeya, Rama and Bharata, and the Pandav brothers. GizzaDiscuss © 08:07, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
If siblings are important, why not parents or children? It will never end. So i suggest limiting it to Consort only.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 10:24, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Planet

Planet is not really a Graha. Also, a deity's associated with one or more grahas may not be known, the field is only filled in Navagraha articles, nowhere else. So removing it.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 11:43, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Language Transliterations

Fields like Pali_Transliteration is not used in any of articles, i have seen til now. IMO, it shouldf be removed.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 14:51, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

orange same color as message bar

Hey, I know it cool and tuff and neato and all, but can we shelve the orange color? For one thing, it's glaring.. gives me a bit of a headache. For another, it's the same color as the "You have messages" bar.. may cause heart palpitations among Wikipedians. Ling.Nut (talkWP:3IAR) 01:39, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

The changed colour has no assocaition with Hinduism. The #FFC569 orange is related to Hinduism. --Redtigerxyz (talk) 13:34, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
